I prefer the DJ piggybacks to the Bazzaz units (mostly because I don't like the TC feature), but both of them work pretty well within the limitations of what they are intended to do for the vast majority of riders.Īs far as the flashed boxes, they work pretty damn good as long as you know what you're doing with them. A YEC box won't work any better than the stock box if it's not set up right. No matter what you're using, it's only as good as the guy doing the tune or the setup. I make sure to get my boxes flashed by someone that is NOT on the latest firmware version. I know a little about what i'm talkin about here As EMRY stated above, whenever a new firmware comes out, there are lots of problems that take time to sort out, by users not a company. There are 500 page threads on this stuff on the R6 forum. So in the context of the OP, myself, and 95% of the people that would consider this, you can NOT make changes.

It is NOTHING like making changes on a YEC box unless you somehow manage to figure out the flashtune software. I'm telling you, don't rush out and buy that interface cable expecting to make fast changes to a flashtune box. If you are ultra computer savvy, perhaps it will be a BIT easier.

Guys do learn how to flash their own boxes, but it takes some time to do this. I don't know ANY regular rider that has been able to do this. IF you can ever figure out the firmware/software. I have both, I use YEC on my track bikes.Ĭlick to expand.yes, i know you "can". Either is much better than OEM for track use. If you want a better than stock ECU and like to tinker, alot, FT. Overall, if you are serious about racing - YEC. Repeat.įYI - don't use FT on a YEC box, you will overwrite the YEC firmware and have a OEM flashed box with an expensive part number. The community get them figured out with time.

Each version update seems to introduce minor mapping issues. FT - in a state of continual beta testing, done by the users. YEC - support when you buy a real one, kinda of (people that work with a good tuner rarely need it). The new version has lots of ability but no guidance. FT - mapping numbers mean what? But Powercommander maps can be imported.

YEC - good tuners understand it plus dual maps (different fuels), fueling data points correspond to A/F ratios so tuning is quick and precise. Their customer service has always handled it, but it seems to be a one man show, sometimes quick, sometimes not. FT - takes a few minutes, sometimes connecting can be a pain in the ass, i've gone through 3 modules so far. I have a couple of stock ecu's flashed with different engine braking so if i wanna change it, i just plug in the other ecu.

YOU CAN send him your power commander map and have that flashed onto the ecu, but i preferred to leave the pcIII on my bike so i can map easier (as you could not make changes with out the pc3), and adjust kill times on the qs. but is 1:1 at higher rpm and higher throttle positions. kind of like a poor mans traction control that at certain rpm's wont' open butterflys 100% even if you give it 100% throttle. That said, this guy does it for $150 and i love it on the sb i have that does not have a YEC box.Īnthony corbo, bauce racing i told him what eb i wanted (i like a lot of engine braking), an ETV acceleration table like i have on my ss bike. It's a "set and forget" kind of deal, unless you send it BACK to be reflashed with the changes you want. You won't have the trackside adjustability for engine braking, ETV acceleration table, global fuel change, quick shifter kill time, all that stuff. We provide any fitting instructions and what features have been disabled allowing removal from the bike and any remedial works if required. It will never be just like a YEC unit. Simply post us your ECU along with bike setup and we will return fully insured and tracked. These maps are selected from our vast database of maps built in house and we can then select a map suitable to your bikes modifications and setup. ECU base flash allows you to remove all unwanted features that restrict the bike along with increasing power and torque throughout the rev range.
